Google Drive, Google’s popular cloud storage solution, just got even better with the launch of their new desktop app. The application not only allows you to manage your files across all of your devices, but it also integrates with your office applications and adds productivity features that make it even easier to get things done on the go or at home. In this article, we’ll take a look at four reasons why you should install the Google Drive desktop app now. 1) It’s really easy to use. 2) It makes working on the go much more efficient.
Offline Access
The first reason you should install the Google Drive desktop app is for offline access. This means that if you’re ever without an internet connection, you can still access your files. Plus, if you have a lot of files, it can be faster to access them offline rather than through the web interface. So, by having the app installed on your computer, you’ll never miss out on any files because of a lack of internet connection. Compatibility: Next up is compatibility with other programs and platforms. If you want to open and edit Office documents from within Google Drive, the desktop app will be your best bet. However, this functionality only works with Microsoft Office 2016 or later versions.
Another pro about the desktop app is that it’s compatible with both Windows and Mac computers. You can even sync folders between these two operating systems so everything is backed up automatically!

If you’re like most people, you probably have a lot of different documents scattered across your computer, phone, and other devices. With the Google Drive desktop app, you can keep all of your docs in one place so you never have to worry about losing them again. Plus, the app makes it easy to share docs with others and collaborate on projects. Simply select the file or folder you want to share and click Share at the top right corner of the screen. From there, you’ll be able to enter your email address and a message for your recipient before clicking Send. The recipient will receive an email that has a link to download the shared document from their browser.
Once they’ve downloaded it, they’ll also be able to edit the document from within their browser without needing any special software or signing up for anything extra. And if you make changes to the document later, those updates will automatically sync across everyone’s computers when you update the original file. Mobile Uploads Section: Collaborative Editing
If you work with others on projects, then you know how important it is to be able to edit documents collaboratively. The Google Drive app for desktop makes it easy to do just that. It can create a new document from scratch or open an existing one and invite collaborators using email, phone number or Google+ ID. Once collaborators accept the invitation, they can make changes in real time and chat about their edits so everyone knows what’s going on at all times. The first person who opens the document has control over whether revisions are tracked by date, author or both.
The revision history of every change is saved and accessible right inside the file itself. Documents can also be exported as Word, Excel, PDFs and more formats.
Collaborative editing isn’t available on mobile devices yet but we’ll let you know when it becomes available!
